Castrol Syntec team travelled to Cayuga Dragway for a two day bracket race

A couple weeks ago (Aug 7-8) the Castrol Syntec team travelled to Toronto Motorsports Park for a two day bracket race. It turned out to be the best weekend we've had so far in the new dragster. On Saturday, I entered the Super Pro class like always. I was having a great day, cutting good lights and running consistently. After making it through three rounds, I found myself in the fourth and final round against Mark Souder, a veteran driver that recently won the Pink's All Out Arm Drop race. Going into the race, I was feeling a healthy amount of nerves and could hear my heart racing in my ear since I knew if I won this race it would be my first win in the Top Dragster. Just my luck, as we both pull into the water box about to do our burnouts, the track officials tell us to shut down because the car before us spilt oil on the track. The clean up was about a 20 minute wait so we both took the opportunity to get out of our cars and calm down. When it was finally time to buckle up again, I felt totally cool and confident. Maybe the wait got to Sauder because he red lit off the line, giving me the automatic win. I like to think he red lit because I made him nervous and he got anxious! Either way, a win is a win and I'll take it any way I can get it! It felt great to finally get a big trophy and some cash!

That night, the track set up a pit bike race for some fun competition. Both me and my dad entered the race and ended up doing really well. Unfortunately my dad and I were paired up in the quarter finals so it was daughter vs. father! I learned everything I know from him, so it made for an interesting race! He beat me off the line and had me covered at the finish line, but I'll get him next time! He ended up winning the entire race so apparently I learned from the best!

The next day, I decided to step up a class to Super Comp which has faster cars and stiffer competition. There were a total of 4 rounds in this race, and I didn't expect to go far at all. First round, my competitor and I cut the same reaction time and I beat him to the finish line, taking the win. Next round, my competitor red lit, saying he knew that I was good on the lights and that he had to try his hardest to cut a good light against me. Unfortunately he tried a little too hard! In the 3rd round, I managed to get the bye run. This was a bye to the finals so I knew I had to make it count by getting a good light and running close to my dial in. In this round I cut my 5th career .000 perfect light (first ever in the Top Dragster). This gave me a boost of confidence for the final round knowing I could get a good light. In the final round, I beat my competitor of the line with a .007 light to his .040 and passed him at the finish line, taking the win! I would have never thought that a win would come this soon since I'm the rookie in my field, let alone two wins in one weekend! It was a perfect weekend for the Castrol Syntec team and I feel as though these wins have given me the confidence I need to do great in the upcoming events!
